Budget session from today

The 9th session (Budget) of the 11th Nagaland Legislative Assembly is all set to begin Tuesday with the ceremonial governor’s address and obituary references. The first day of the budget session would be adjourned after the motion of thanks moved and will resume after a day recess. Apart from the normal debate on the governor’s address, presentation of budget for the financial year 2011-2012 by the finance minister, laying of various Assembly Committees reports, Annual Administrative Reports of the various government departments and CAG report, four other government bills has been moved so far for consideration of passing during the eight days long session. The session is scheduled to continue till March 29 next is likely to witness brickbat between the ruling and opposition. Major issues such allegations of rampant corruptions, misuse of funds and positions, non-release of fund to the pensioners, scarcity of water across the state and skyrocketing prices of essential commodities are expected to dominating issues during the debate on the governor’s address and budget discussion. Meanwhile, as part of preparation in the run up to the budget session, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) was reported to have held a meeting at the residence of the opposition leader Tokheho Yepthomi Monday.
