: Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) has said that many land owners along the NH 29 have been found encroaching upon government reserved land and had constructed illegal buildings, walls and structures. It was informed that as per government order, land between 45 from the middle of the NH both sides were reserved for future development to be undertaken by the government as and when need arose. CTC, therefore, said that its advisory committee members along with GBs and public leaders have on Monday put demarcation marks on all the illegal buildings, structures etc. In this regard, CTC chief advisor, T. Shuya has directed all land/building owners to demolish/remove all the illegal construction within the demarcation marks on or before April 2 failing which the CTC would be compelled to remove/dismantle/evict from April 4. It was informed that the dismantled materials would be confiscated by the CTC and that no claims would be entertained whatsoever.
