Seminar on ‘respect for life’

A two-day national seminar on the theme ‘Respect for life’ got underway at the Bundrock Chapel cum Auditorium, Patkai Christian College (PCC) (autonomous) here Thursday with Nagaland University vice-chancellor Prof. K. Kannan inaugurating the seminar as chief guest.
The seminar is being organised by the department of philosophy Pataki College and Salesian College of higher education sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Speaking at the seminar, Kannan said respect for life comes when basic comforts are met. He further elucidated that respect for life was remaining calm and appreciating others.
Expounding on morality and ethics with regard to respect for life, the vice-chancellor said morality was a set of moral principles that binds people living in society whilst ethics advocates on how one should not do something at the cost of damaging others.
PCC principal Hüsazü Epao delivered the welcome address, while the convener of the seminar, Dr. R. K. Behera and Salesian college principal Fr. Joseph Cherian spoke at the inaugural session.
Resource person from New Delhi, Dr. V. John Peter, a consultant in Philosophy, IGNOU would also be presenting a paper March 25.
Altogether 400 participants from four college viz. PCC, Salesian College, Fazl Ali College and Sakus Mission College are taking part in the seminar.
