Tuensang Town council on Friday appealed to all national workers under Chang region to cease all illegal taxes imposed on different commodities and goods coming to Tuensang town.
As per a complain received from Chamber of Commerce Tuensang, I. Alemba Chang, chief advisor Tuensang Town Council, one faction was said to be collecting `2000 per truck load of pigs, `10 per numbers of chickens, ` 50 per cartoon of fish, `100 per buffalo at Longkhim town.
He also said taxes were again imposed in Tseminyu, Botsa and VK. Town, where the whole sellers of essential items were expected to shell out `300 in Nagaland gate, `500 in Longkhim town and `200 in Tuensang town per trip. TTC also added that dealers of hardware, bricks and sands etc., face similar situation.
Tuensang Town Council also pointed out that business establishments under Tuensang town pay taxes to every faction under respective regions, thereby creating unnecessary harassment, and lamented that the public bear the brunt of paying taxes on highway by other regions, resulting in price rise in Tuensang town.
In this connection, Tuensang Town Council has requested all administrative heads of factions under Chang region not to collect any taxes along the highway, underscoring that “one man cannot pay tax twice to one faction”.
