Patton on oil exploration by ONGC

Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) and Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) including extension and renewal fees were directly paid by ONGC to the state exchequer, parliamentary secretary Geology & Mining, Y. Patton said while replying to a starred question raised by MLA, Lampha Konyak on Friday’s Assembly session. According to DIPR reports, he said so far the ONGC has paid Rs. 1, 62, 28, 558 as fees, including security deposit. Patton further said that the areas that the government of Nagaland had given permission to ONGC for exploration of Oil in the state include Dimapur Block, Singphan Block, Bhagty-Bhandari Block, Doyang Block, Jalukie Block and Tuli-Tsurang area. However all exploration license granted were suspended by the government on January 13, 2009.
