Rotary Club observes 106th birthday, peace day

Rotary Club of Dimapur on February 23 observed 106th Rotary birthday and ‘World understanding and peace day’ celebration at Rotary Centre, Midland, Dimapur.
On the occasion of the Club’s birth anniversary, Rtn. Sanjay Kumar Jain, president, Rotary Club of Dimapur greeted all the members.
The guest speaker Rev. Candid Sareo, Rtn. Dr. B. L. Agarwalla, Rtn. Surinder Anand, Rtn. S. P. Dutta, Rtn. Samir Saha, Rtn. K. M. Sharma and Rtn. U. S. Agarwalla lighted the lamp to mark the occasion.
Rtn. Surinder Anand spoke on “Rotary India to arrange 5000 heart surgeries for poor kids”, Rtn. Manoj Kumar Jain on Rotary’s history and related topics to mark the occasion.
Manoj appraised the house that Rotary was born on February 23, 1905 where Paul P. Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram E. Shorey gathered in Loehr’s office for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting.
Guest speaker, Rev. Candid Sareo spoke on ‘World understanding and peace’ to mark the occasion and further appreciated the founder of Rotary, late Rtn. Paul Harris and Rotarians of Dimapur.
Rtn. Surinder Anand and Rtn. Dr. B. L. Agarwalla also spoke on world understanding and peace day. They also appreciated the speech of Rev. Candid Sareo. Rtn. Surinder Anand appreciated Rtn. Deepak Chettri for giving his name to Neha Chettri, an orphan of Prodigals Home for school admission. He stated as a true living example of world understanding and peace.
