Yimchungrü Akheru Arih-ako (YAA) Wednesday alleged that some 20-30 armed NSCN (I-M) men from “so-called” Saramati region had forcibly enumerated people of Shamator village as Tikhir tribe at gun point.
Maintaining that Saramati region was likely to create such activities in other surrounding villages, the YAA has urged the NSCN (I-M)’s Saramati region not to disturb the census operation since it was a national policy across the country.
Making an appeal for peaceful census operation in various Yimchungrü jurisdictions for the common benefit of the people, the YAA further asked to cooperate and support so that positive response and accurate figures of population in the area was achieved.
On the other hand, the YAA has also urged the state government to take appropriate measure over the issue.
The YAA also said that development and population would fail if such kind of policy continued in its areas.
Asserting that the action of NSCN (I-M) cadres would further create disunity amongst the society when Nagas were yearning for ‘peace and reconciliation’, the YAA urged NSCN (I-M) authorities to withdraw their cadres soon.
The YAA also expressed apprehension that such activity of Saramati region could lead to derecognition of villages by government.
Meanwhile, in a meeting convened by ADC Shamator, the Shamator VC said they (Saramati region) have claimed that they were sent by higher authority.
