The impasse between government teachers and the state government finally ended Thursday after the agitating teachers called off the stir.
The teachers were demanding adoption of the revised six pay bands recommended by the sixth pay commission since January 19.
The Council of Teachers’ Association (COTA) agreed to call off all forms of agitations with “immediate effect” after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government, who accepted adoption of the revised six pay bands.
“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoO) with the government in a talk held at the office chamber of the Chief Minister,” Ch Santakumar, co-convener of COTA, told reporters in the presence of revenue and forest minister Th Debendro and IFCD minister N Biren.
The talk was held on the invitation of the government. The state government has also agreed to release all teachers arrested during the agitation unconditionally.
