UTVC flays murder

Upper Tiru Village Council (UTVC) has condemned the alleged murder of a village guard of Upper Tiru, Mon district identified as one Tingyieh, son of Wangloi Konyak. According to a statement issued by UTVC chairman, M. J. Longpongshu and secretary, Yongthi Konyak the victim was beaten up on February 21 at around 2:30pm at Singphang forest gate by some local youths of Tiru (Oting Village) who were identified as Tongwang and Tingmei sons of Hatwang Konyak, Ahng of Oting village and Kapwang Konyak, son of Late Yawang Konyak of Oting village. UTVC said some Upper Tiru villagers found the beaten up victim at a place half way to Upper Tiru and brought him back home. However, owing to his critical condition Late Tingyeih was sent for medical help at Sibsagar hospital, Assam but later succumbed to injuries on March 2 at around 9 am, the UTVC said. It said that an FIR was also lodged at Naginimora Police station in this connection. Strongly condemning the “inhuman act” the UTVC urged the law and order authority to book the culprits at the earliest and awards befitting punishment.
