SIRD quiz aims at creating awareness on central scheme

State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in collaboration with Doordashan Kendra Kohima on Friday conducted a state level quiz competition on ‘Rural development for village council and village development board’ at SIRD conference hall.
The quiz competition, first of its kind was participated by representatives of 11 districts of Nagaland. The competition was organised to create awareness of the various flagship programs that are being sponsored by ministry of rural development, union government of India so that the village functioning were made aware of various schemes meant for development.
Quiz master was Kethosituo Mepfu-o and panel of judges comprised of Limasenla Jamir, Director SIRD, Kelei Zeliang, joint secretary rural development and Waichiba, additional director RD Block.
The first prize was bagged by Tali Pongener and Vitoshe Chishi - Dimapur district, second prize - Mhondamo Shitri and Chumbemo Kithan - Wokha district and third prize - Kakishe and Ikuto - Zunheboto district.
The first prize consisting `50,000 was sponsored by S. Pangnyu Phom, parliamentary secretary, RD & SIRD, second prize of `30,000 sponsored by V. Sakhrie commissioner & secretary, RD and third prize `20,000 sponsored by Limasenla Jamir, Director SIRD. The first prize winner, Tali Pongener, president VDB Association and Vitoshe Chishi, VDB secretary, Dimapur district while accepting the prize money announced that they would distribute `50,000 as incentive among the poor villagers in their area.
