Reacting to a report which quoted GPRN/NSCN Naga Army commander, “lt gen.” Neokpa as saying that NSCN (I-M) cadres had penetrated into Myanmar through Anatongre, the Anatongre village council (AVC) has said those cadres “must have crossed many villages before and after few hours of rest in our village on Feb. 28 morning, if they were the ones who entered into Myanmar.” According to AVC, their village was very far away from Indo-Myanmar border and clarified that it was under Kiphire district not under Tuensang district. Stating that their cooperation was extended to all factions, the AVC said from time to time armed cadres from various factions come to their village and go. They, however, clarified that no particular faction has its base in the village. The AVC further stated that “marking our village” in particular on the passage of NSCN (I-M) cadres was unfair, saying they were apprehensive that next time the passage of other factions via Anatongre could be marked by others and create unpleasant situation.
