Nagaland minister for public health engineering (PHE), Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao, and senior officials of the department toured Mon district on March 3 and 4.
The tour was organized to acquaint the minister with the department’s activities as well as status of water supply in the district and whether they are being implemented properly.
On reaching the district capital on March 3, Dr. Ngangshi inspected the ongoing works of water supply to Totok villages, which has a main line length of 38 kilometers.
He personally inspected the main pipe line which passed through Aboi town and later interacted with village authorities and villagers of Totok.
The villagers while terming the minister’s visit as rare; also expressed their pleasure in view of the fact that a minister had personally inspected the water supply works leading to their village.
The minister appraised the villagers about the importance of water for human sustenance and solicited the cooperation of the villagers in implementing the scheme.
He assured the villagers that all possible efforts are being made to complete the scheme at the earliest.
On March 4, Dr. Ngangshi inspected the water supply works to Tang village, where he was later joined by local MLA, Lanpha Konyak.
The minister was also accompanied by chief Angh of the village, deputy Angh and village authorities.
After the inspection, the minister interacted with the villagers.
The local MLA stated the minister’s visit was an honour not only for the constituency people; but for him as well.
He exhorted the villagers that the coming of the PHE Minister to Tang village was a blessing for the village and that the villagers must extend full cooperation to the PHE department for the success of the water supply scheme.
The minister appreciated the enthusiasm of the villagers and further assured them that all efforts are being made to complete the works as soon as possible.
The minister also inspected the Water Treatment Plant for Mon town and the PHE Store at Mon town. Over there, he assured the department officials that he would make arrangements to provide fund for construction of brick wall fencing for the store.
Earlier, the minister and chief engineer interacted with the department officials on March 4 at Circuit house, Mon to know the grievances of the department officials.
He requested the department officials to be sincere in their duty and also pay attention to water fee collection so as to enhance the revenue of the state.
