Government high school Aghunato which was established in the year 1963 was upgraded to higher secondary school on March 3 at government high school complex with additional director (HoD) school education, N. Khevito Sema inaugurating it.
Speaking at the inaugural function, N. Khevito Sema said primary schools were being established in almost every villages while up-gradation of schools at block levels and sub-divisional levels have been carried out so that by the year 2020 no person would be illiterate.
He also added that developments were also being extended to remote part of the country through NREGA programme which has been implementing successfully.
According to an official bulletin, chief guest informed that higher secondary arts section would start functioning by July 2011 and science and commerce sections will start gradually depending upon the enrolment and performance of the students. In this connection, he sought cooperation of the people with the government and added that faculties and facilities required would be provided and new building will be constructed soon.
Pukhayi Assumi, ex-minister while welcoming the people on the occasion, thanked chief minister Neiphiu Rio and minister for urban development & higher education and NPF President Dr. Shürhozelie for granting higher education at the doorstep of Aghunato and Asuto people comprising of 51 villages.
ADC Akato while delivering a short speech said that hope and aspiration of the teachers and the people of Aghunato have been fulfilled.
He thanked the state government and the department for upgrading the school and assured to make it one of the best higher secondary school in the state.
