The Mokokchung chamber of commerce and industries (MCCI) has flayed the power department Mokokchung for frequent load shedding in the district.
Irked by long hours of load shedding especially at a time when thousands are preparing their examination, MCCI expressed their displeasure at the power department Mokokchung for not informing the public on time about frequent power cuts.
Stating that Mokokchung has been experiencing power cuts for about a month, MCCI added the matter has become worse and that the situation was unthinkable at this stage of technological advancement.
Also highlighting that a big chunk of businessmen in the district earning their daily bread directly depend on power supply, MCCI stated irregular power supply has only escalated their problems, leading to loss in terms of lakhs of rupees daily.
Witnessing this emerging state of affairs the MCC questioned as to whether the electricity department or the urban electricity management board would compensate for the loss, and further stated the department in spite of being in a pitiable condition is prompt enough to collect payment of electricity bills.
Mokokchung chamber of commerce and industries therefore urged the department to look into the problem with all seriousness to avoid such situation in future and also prove the department was competent enough to handle the situation professionally.
