Khaghaboto Kukami Kuqhakulu (KKK) has appealed the power department to re-locate the 11 KV power lines passing through 2-lane Dhansiri Bridge between Shozukhu and Zukihe
Chairman of KKK Jacob Zhimomi stated the construction work at 2-lane Dhansiri Bridge between Shozukhu and Zukihe which was held up for quite sometime had again come to a standstill after work began for a few months.
The chairman also said that Pabscon Company, which has been executing the work, was forced to stop as it was impossible for them to execute work with 11 KV power lines passing right above the bridge.
Moreover, KKK added one female worker; a mother of three was critically electrocuted while working at the construction site on March 4 and presently undergoing intensive medical treatment at a local hospital in Dimapur.
In this regard, the chairman expressed that the construction company had earlier appealed the power department to re-locate the power lines and was yet to receive response from the department.
To facilitate early completion of the project, already running behind schedule, KKK also wrote to the executive engineer of power department, Dimapur division on February 28, 2011 urging the department to re-locate the same, and lamented the department failed to take any action.
The chairman further went on to state that Pabscon made it clear that it would not be able to execute the work any further as it involved the lives of its workers and decided not to resume work until power lines were re-located. KKK chairman on behalf of the company and people of Khaghaboto area therefore appealed the power department to immediately intervene and find a solution for resumption of construction works.
