Citing the “unceremonious cancellation” of president Pratibha Patil’s visit to Tuensang, the Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Kohima (ENPUK) decided to abstain from participating in any manner during the president’s visit to Kohima. It has informed all Eastern Naga organizations, tribal unions and individuals based in Kohima to abide by the decision arrived at during an emergency consultative meeting held in Kohima on March 5. ENPUK president, T. Kekongchim in a statement said the collective decision was also endorsed by ENPO and its federating units. “…the mishandling of the highest office of the country could have been respectfully avoided by the concerned authority,” EPUK added.
