Five members of Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on Monday visited Kiphire to get first hand information of the ongoing developmental works at Indoor stadium which started way back in the year 2006.
At the construction site, Dr. Nicky Kire MLA & chairman PAC on observing the work of contractors commented that both the contractor as well as the department were to be blamed for poor workmanship.
Dr. Nicky also felt the need to enhance the schedule rate as the present work is being carried out as per 1995 schedule rate. MLA member I. Imkong took note of the absence of departmental officers failing to monitor the work.
DC Kiphire C.M Tsanglao who led the visiting committee to the site, said the work could not progress as it was being monitored from Kohima. He also admitted to have stopped the work as there was no one from the department to keep an eye on the work.
R.L Akamba ex-MLA who was also at the site called upon the visiting team to put pressure on the authorities to speed up the work and asked the team to enhance the schedule rate.
He also shared some of the genuine problem faced by citizens in the town like landslide and water scarcity etc.
Adding more problems to the work at indoor stadium, the site was also allotted to private individuals to construct private residences and the tourism department to construct tourist rest house.

The indoor stadium is being looked after by PWD (Housing) and sponsored by urban development. The PAC team comprised of Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire MLA & Chairman PAC, L. Temjen MLA & Chairman committee on public undertaking, C. Kipili MLA member, I. Imkong MLA, member, Chingwang Konyak MLA member.
