: Government officials from various departments led by Amit Jain, managing director, IRG Systems South Asia Private Limited, Consultants in Energy, Environment and Natural Resources arrived Dimapur Municipal Council office on March 8.
The team visited various places in Dimapur in order to take action plan on climate change in Nagaland.
Officials from departments of urban planning, urban directorate, transport, disaster management, PWD (works and housing) and pollution control board accompanied by DMC Advisors, Er. Vikholie Neinu, Lepshi Ao, Atovi Zhimomi, Hokuto Zhimomi, M. Ovung and S. Heno visited DMC garbage dumping ground, drainages and hospitals and studied basic issues related to climate change.
The visiting team observed that Dimapur was vulnerable to flood because of garbage filled clogged drains and also stated that open burning of garbage was not advisable.
They also discussed the need to reduce traffic congestion in Dimapur.
Laying importance on the commercial hub of Nagaland, the visiting team said training on issues of climate change would be imparted in the days to come.
DMC Chief Advisor, Er. K. Keditsu informed the team that DMC has moved to avail projects for solid waste management and bio-medical waste management.
He also said DMC was working hard to improve the drainage system in Dimapur.
