Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland Khekiho Zhimomi has urged upon the union minister of railways to increase the seat allocation in Rajdhani Express between New Delhi and Dibrugarh via Dimapur. Taking part in the debate on Railway Budget in the upper house March 8, the MP pointed out that Dimapur railway station serves not only Nagaland but Manipur. “However, the present quota for Dimapur station is insufficient for meeting the growing demands of the people of two states,” said Khekiho, and requested the Railway Minister to increase the quota. The MP also urged the Minister to extend the halting time of Rajdhani Express at Dimapur Railway station from five minutes to 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the lone Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland also lauded the Railway Budget 2011-12 presented by union railway minister Mamata Banerjee, saying it was “highly commendable”. Asserting that the Rail Budget was “pro-people”, the MP said the “neglected regions of the North East” was also taken care of. “Taking such positive and a bold step is warmly welcome and highly appreciable,” Khekiho said.
