DIMAPUR: Covenant Baptist Church (CBC) conducted a thanksgiving service on account of completion of one year in its existence with a special message delivered by Rev. L. Malsawma Vanchhawng, also the pastor of City Church Kohima.
It was on April 10, 2010 that Covenant Baptist Church was founded in Dimapur under the initiative of NBCC as the latter felt the need of an English service Church considering the fact that cross-tribal marriage was also on the rise.
The function was held in Nagaland Missionary Movement building at Fellowship colony.
Rev. Vanchhawng in his message lauded CBC for starting a devotional service especially for mixed married couples. He also said that Christians should be accommodating to one another.
He cited examples of US where Blacks, Whites, Chinese and almost all the different ethnic communities have their own separate Churches.
Though not bad in itself, the pastor said such differences can distract us from the larger purpose of Christianity. The programme was conducted by Anshely Sumi and special songs presented by City Church, Oriental Theological Seminary and Whittee Bible College.
