NCP not to field candidate for by-poll
DIMAPUR, APR 11 (NPN): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Nagaland unit has announced its decision not to field candidate in the ensuing by-election to 26 Aonglenden Assembly Constituency scheduled on May 7. Informing this in a notification, State NCP president Neiba Ndang said the decision not to field its candidate was taken by the party high command. Similar notification same was also issued the party’s national permanent secretary SR Kohli. However, the state NCP said that its party re-organisation works in the State as well as in the district levels would continue to strengthen the party for the next general elections.
Order on abandoned vehicles on highway
DIMAPUR, APR 11 (NPN): Taking note that a number of accidents take place along NH 29 due to abandoned vehicles on the roadside without proper indicative cautionary signs to warn other commuters, Dimapur police has issued certain orders in this regard and other related traffic regulations. The police also took note of the many two-wheeler and pillion riders without helmet. The orders as issued by the SP Dimapur included: All vehicles without proper headlights and signal lights shall be checked and prosecuted as per the provisions of the MV Act; all two-wheeler and pillion riders without helmet shall be checked and prosecuted as per the provisions of the MV Act; all vehicles abandoned along the NH due to mechanical defects shall inform Dimapur traffic control (03862-232106) or police control room (100 & 03862-228400) for assistance. In case any vehicle is abandoned along the NH, the traffic police shall tow away the vehicle at the cost of the owner of the vehicles. Any accident occurring due to the negligence of the owner/driver of the abandoned vehicle in not informing the police, the responsibility shall lie on the owner/driver of the abandoned vehicle; to increase visibility at night, all transport vehicles and public service vehicles viz., three-wheeler, taxi, light carrier vehicles, heavy carrier vechicles and buses operating in Dimapur shall put retroreflective marking tape as prescribed by the ministry of road transport and highway. White tape shall be fixed at the front, yellow tape on the sides and red tape at the back of the vehicle. It was informed that the order shall be strictly enforced an offenders shall be prosecuted as per provisions of law.
