Deputy commissioner Mokokchung Lithrongla G. Chishi disclosed there were around 1000 sex workers in Mokokchung and called upon Watsu Mungdang to give a serious thought on this issue.
Lithrongla G. Chishi was speaking on the theme of the conference “Conquer Your Field”, at the ongoing 18th general conference of the Watsu Mungdang at town hall Mokokchung.
DC said Naga society was devoid of any division and that Naga women were high regarded in the society while calling upon the womenfolk to know their responsibilities as mothers adding “Your children will follow how you behave at home”.
Sano Vamuzo, Chairperson of Nagaland State Women Commission who also spoke at the program said Nagas were looking forward to the Aos to bring about a change in the society.
She said Aos were the pioneers in every field and disclosed that it was only now that some tribes have started opening their eyes. Reminding all human beings are equal before law, she said women should not be afraid of men but rather should have mutual respect for each other in accordance with the teachings of the Bible.
She said if mutual respect between men and women was followed, the world could have been a much better place. She also lamented that there was division everywhere in Naga society and called upon women to be peace builders to bring about peace in the society.
