A four day exposure tour was organized by KVK Phek, NRCM (ICAR), under Soil Science division from April 4 to 7 led by T. Esther Longkumer, subject matter specialist (Soil Science) and Virginia Thabah, programme assistant (Home Science).
The group visited Rural Resource and Training Centre (RRTC)-Umran, ICAR NEH Region Farm-Barapani and Central Potato Research Station (CPRS)-upper Shillong, where farmers benefited under different field such as composting units, pig breeding unit and management practices of pig, poultry management, rabbit rearing, management of fish pond and integrated farming system.
While visiting CPRS, the farmers were briefed on various types of potatoes, management of potato cultivation, True Potato Seed (TPS), followed by a visit to the field.
This exposure tour enhanced the knowledge of farmers in various aspects of agricultural and allied sectors.
Meanwhile, the farmers expressed gratitude to Dr. C. Rajkhowa, Director, NRCM (ICAR) and Dr. RK. Singh, programme coordinator, KVK Phek for the initiative taken in arranging the exposure tour.
