RTI seminar cum workshop was conducted on April 18 at cultural hall Zunheboto on the theme ‘Youth for Transparency’. The programme was organized by YouthNet and co-organised by Zunheboto Range Student Union.
Team director YouthNet, Hekani Jakhalu while speaking on the occasion, highlighted that YouthNet was an unprofitable organization with a mission to help the organization and to help the youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills and form attitudes to enable them to become self-directory, positive, productive and responsible. Board member, YouthNet and Advocate Lydia Yeptho while giving a gist of RTI said three things a man cannot do without was death, breathing and tax which people pay to the government and the government utilizes the money.
She informed the government has given the right and provision through RTI to every citizens of India, the right to seek information as fundamental right which covers the whole government departments from grass-root level right up to the president office except Jammu and Kashmir. The RTI Act covers NGOs that use government money.
The team also conducted on how to go about seeking information using the right RTI Act has provided.The programme was conducted by Lydia Yeptho and Joshua Sheqhi Board members, YouthNet. The organising team included Sentinaro Lonchar, board member, YouthNet, Principal Olympic School Zunheboto, Hovishe Achumi and Sukhato Rotokha representing concerned citizen Zunheboto also spoke on the occasion. All NGOs, public leaders and school contingents under Zunheboto district participated in the seminar.
