Prof. Shiva Jatan Thakur, father of cyber crime accused Kumar Shashwat – who has been charged with posting “obscene pictures” of a Naga girl on social networking site – has appealed to SP Dimapur not to institute FIR against the duo Akum and Sumika. Prof. Shiva, in a letter to SP Dimapur, a copy of which was released to this daily, said his earlier statements were exclusively intended to ensure full protection of his son, both during judicial custody and release therefrom at Dimapur. “At the same time however, I never intended to lodge a FIR against Akum and Sumika or any other people in that case, because I am a passionate votary of the creed ‘forgive and forget’,” he wrote. Prof. Shiva, who apparently had long telephonic conversation with the OC April 18, said he was convinced of OC’s intercession. “I think it expedient to request you earnestly not to institute FIR against Akum and Sumika as they are as dear to their parents as Shashwat is to me,” said Prof.Shiva. The professor, however, said he “legitimately” expected them to reciprocate to his “noble gesture” to ensure full protection of his son at Dimapur with all their might.
