Cop rapes minor in Phek

: A four-year-old girl, LKG student of GPS, Hebron Colony, Phek, was allegedly raped by a 60-year-old policeman in Phek, April 20 last, it has been reported.
According to Hebron-I colony welfare community members, the matter surfaced when the health of the child deteriorated and subsequent confirmation of rape by medical authorities.
The accused identified as one Ravohu a.k.a. Monao Singh, serving in 5th NAP Bn, Phek as constable and hailing from Wanching village of Manipur, was attempting to escape when the local youths apprehended him, they said, adding the police later the accused under its custody.
Condemning the “barbaric and inhuman crime” committed by Ravohu, the Hebron-I colony welfare community urged the responsible authorities to take stringent action and award befitting and exemplary punishment to the accused.
“His inhuman and satanic act has no place in the society and shall never be tolerated,” they said.
Protest rally on April 20
Phek area mothers’ association (PAMA) & Phek town Chakhesang students’ union (PTCSU) condemning the “heinous crime” committed by Monao Singh, informed all responsible citizens to participate in the protest rally to be held April 29 at 9 a.m.
A statement from two bodies also appealed the responsible authority to immediately initiate appropriate action against the accused.
“Viewing the damage done to the victim and the Chakhesang people at large, the unions appeal the concern authority to immediately take appropriate action on the culprit who is in police custody now.”
The bodies further called for public attention and awareness in fighting against such anti-social element.
