One-day seminar on mason training for disaster management was held at DC Conference hall, Mon on April 25. Deputy commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS in his brief introduction informed that north eastern states including Nagaland was located at an earthquake prone zone and urged the gathering to be aware. Emphasizing on the need of coordination and support in times of disaster, DC called upon government officers, staff and NGOs to come forward and give voluntary services whenever disaster strike in the district. Stressing on safe constructions of houses and buildings, he advised participants to construct earthquake resistant building by following the present technique of the new research team. SDO (Civil) Mon Sadar, Hiazu Meru and SDO, PWD (R & B), Mon Er. Chinglang Konyak was the resource persons of the mason training for disaster management. They spoke on “concept of disaster management” and “improvement of masonry to prevent disasters”. The program was attended by government officers, staff, Mon mason and NGOs of the district.
