Security up for by-poll

Nagaland DGP K Kire said the State has geared up all the necessary security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the ensuing by-election to 26 Aonglenden AC to be held on May 7 next in Mokokchung district. Former state chief minister and former governor of Maharashtra and Goa, Dr. S. C. Jamir, (Congress) and Toshipokba (NPF) are fighting the by-election.
According to a NEPS report, the DGP said the police had not received any incident till date and that things were generally peaceful.
Asked about the reported threat to Dr Jamir by NSCN (I-M), Kire said there was no such report of threat. He said investigations were carried out from various sources including Army, SIB, CRPF and State Police but not a single incident of threat to Dr Jamir was found.
