Seminar for church leaders, village council members

A day long consultation seminar for church leaders and village council members of Old Jalukie village was held at the village council on Saturday.
The resource persons for the seminar were BDO Tening S Chuba Longkumer, who also sponsored the seminar, and pastor Irui Kenn Nring.
Longkumer while speaking on the topic ‘Your identity, your right’ underscored the importance of understanding oneself and pointed out that a person was known by what they give back and contribute to the society.
He also pointed out that a person cannot be termed as useful if they were ignorant of their rights.
Elucidating on the second topic, ‘Leaders are the backbone of villagers’, Chuba Longkumer stressed on the topic of electing the leaders in a fair manner.
Maintaining that the village council set up was the most important in any rural area, Chuba called for doing away with ‘politics’ while electing the chairman and village council members.
Pointing out some qualities of a good leader, Chuba said that a leader should have love, cooperation, sympathy, forgiveness, patience, humility, trustworthiness, responsible, dedicated, honest, confident and committed towards serving the people without any partiality.
Pastor Irui Kenn Nring spoke on the topic ‘Eat, drink for the glory of God’.
