5 injured in land dispute

Five persons suffered minor gunshot injuries after a scuffle over land dispute led to a gunfight between Beisumpuikam and Inavi village under Peren district on Monday afternoon. However no casualty was reported. The incident also led to burning of more than fifty plus huts of Inavi village. Talking to Nagaland Post over the phone, EAC Temsuwati informed that the scuffle started off around 12-12:30 noon when both the villagers started to claim the cultivable land as their own. The matter got further aggravated and led to a gunfight between the two villages injuring four persons from Beisumpuikam and one from Inavi village. Out of the five injured, three had already been shifted to Jalukie for treatment by the time officials reached the spot, Temsu informed. Meanwhile, the EAC also said that the situation was already under control with the deployment of NAP (IR) personnel. However, he added the section 144 CrPC was not yet imposed within the area.
