Expressing resentment over frequent disturbances and obstruction in smoothly implementing the on-going NH-29 improvement process, the Naga People’s Organization (NPO) Manipur has appealing for collective co-operation from organization/Group/Individuals for smooth running of the highway.
The NPO in a release by its president M. Dili stated that there were many threats and illegal activities looming around which had hampered workers and delayed the NH-29 works, and further stated that it would not compromise any such irrational activity at the expense of a good National Highway in Senapati District. For which, the NPO demand the concerned to cease all such activities immediately.
Taking note of the long pending demands of the general public for better road condition of the NH-29, the NPO stated that earlier the SDSA had repeatedly intervened for five years, consequent to which the Centre had sanctioned for fully development of the said highway with full Blacktopping. Hence, two hot mix-plants, Engines, Stone Crushers and other heavy machineries were installed to complete the said works before the arrival of the monsoon. However, the NPO said that even after 2months of works progressing, some Organization/groups continue to indulge in heavy taxations and threats to the ongoing works.
Reiterating its request, the NPO appealed to all concerned for a problem-free improvement process of the NH-29. Failing to respect repeated appeals, the NPO cautioned it would not co-operate such Organization/groups in the future.
