It was like Diwali night -the crackers and shouts-heard in colonies when cricket fans of Dimapur exploded with joy after India won the ‘battle of cricket’ defeating Pakistan by a nail biting 29-run finish at Mohali on Wednesday night.
Many shops downed shutters while office attendance was thin Wednesday as people prepared to watch the semi-final clash between the traditional rivals.
A number of eating places and hangouts were packed with people who watched the high octane India-Pakistan match. Rain also played spoil-sport for those outdoor viewers, but nothing could stop the cricket aficionados who remained rooted to the TV screens till the last Pakistani wicket fell.
