RVYSA, Chiechama VCC ban hunting
Dimapur: Rüsoma Village Youth and Sports Association (RVYSA) Kohima has banned hunting, fishing and jungle burning within its jurisdiction. The association cautioned that any person violating the order would be dealt with as per the law of the village. Meanwhile, VCC Chiechama village council in its meeting on February 26 resolved to ban hunting, collecting of firewood and grazing of cattle in its jurisdiction. Any person found violating the rules would be penalized as per the law of the village council, stated CVC.
Relief fund for Tsunami victims
Dimapur: Expressing concern to the Tsunami affected victims of Japan, headmaster, faculty members and students of Tewelhi Medo Tyrannus School, Pfutsero conducted a relief drive in the school.
The funds collected was then submitted to the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch, Kohima which has been remitted to the IRCS national headquarters New Delhi for onward submission to Japan Red Cross. Meanwhile Zakie Kire general secretary IRCSN has informed that any individuals, organizations or others willing to come forward for donation may submit it to the Red Cross Office, Kohima.
Launching of NIAPA
Dimapur: Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts (NIAPA) in association with the Government of Nagaland would be launching its first show titled “Renaissance” on April 15, 5:30pm at Naithu Resort, Dimapur.
The show would be graced by chief minister Neiphiu Rio as chief guest and attended by ministers and bureaucrats from the state. Further, top international models from Paris, New York, Ukraine, Russia, Mumbai and Delhi would walk the ramp and the sequence of clothing includes combination of cultural outfits and collection by leading stylists and designers from the fashion industry.
FGN Sumi region notifies
DIMAPUR: Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), Sumi region, ‘Midan Peyu’ has informed all general public and business establishment not to entertain any kind of taxation within its jurisdiction without the approval of the ‘Midan Peyu’.
VEC Lingrijan fetes GHS topper
DIMAPUR: Village education committee Lingrijan has congratulated Alemtemjen son of Yakari Changki who secured Top 1 ESLC examination.
Alemtemjen of government high school Lingrijan, Dimapur secured 542 marks in total.
Village education committee chairman Asang Walling and all parents of the village community lauded the topper for bringing laurel to government high school Lingrijan Dimapur. Village education committee Lengrijan has wished him success in the years to come.
NNC Angami Region condemns meet
DIMAPUR: NNC Angami Regional Council has condemned the meeting called on April 6 and April 8 by the suspended persons of NNC.
A release issued by the NNC Angami Regional Council signed by 6 signatories, stated the suspended NNC members are creating division and confusion “because of their shame and misuse of fund” with the intention of dividing the NNC, and added they would be held responsible for the “mistake committed out of shame, greed and covetous of political power”.The region further cautioned not to attend the meeting called by “desperate and wrong persons”. The region particularly blamed Kiumukam Yimchungru for the “mess and division”, and also condemned him for creating “confusion, misunderstanding, misuse of fund and division” among the NNC set-up.
Peach Channel records anthem
DIMAPUR: Peace Channel Dimapur recorded the Peace Channel anthem on March 31. The music CDs are being dispatched to all Peace Clubs of various schools and localities in Nagaland and aboard for learning purpose and has been uploaded on the website www.peachchannel.in. Peace Channel has thanked Teeya Imsong, Alem Alia Jamir and Charles of Tribes Music Studio PWD colony for the technical and professional touch in recoding the anthem. The Peace channel also thanked Fr. George Angami, principal, Holy Cross Higher Secondary, School, Dimapur, Brother Tithong for rendering support.
Lyrics of the anthem was written by Fr. C.P Anto, founder and director of Peace Channel and sung by Abenla, Chubala and Imli of Peace Channel band.
Tsiepama village gate inauguration: Tsiepama village gate inauguration would be inaugurated on April 16, 10am by minister, planning and veterinary and animal husbandry, T. R. Zeliang. All citizens of Tsiepama have been requested to attend the programme.
Cyclathon and walkathon: Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo Youth Ministry (DABA YM) Duncan fellowship would be organizing a cyclathon and walkathon on April 7, 5am to commemorate ‘World Health Day’.
ANPETA inform district units: All Nagaland Physical Education Teachers’ Association (ANPETA) has informed district units to collect membership fee of Rs.500 for the year 2011-14 and submit to ANPETA treasurer before June 30. Defaulters would be exempted from seniority list as per association resolution, added Vinolie Medom, secretary publicity and information ANPETA.
Teachers’ sensitization program: District education officer, Dimapur has informed all GMS and GPS teachers that DMA Dimapur would be conducting teachers’ sensitization programme on ‘Quality improvement’ on April 8 for EBRC Medziphema and Kuda (Urban). On April 9 it would be held at EBRC Kushiabill and on April 11 for EBRC Niuland and Doyapur, 9am at Town hall.

Unity college inform students: Principal, unity college has informed all degree students of (B.A/B.Com-II & III) appeared final examination 2011 have been requested to get provisionally admitted to the college from April 7-21 and further informed B.A/B.Com-II & III year that classes would be commencing from April 25.

IVR emergency meeting: Industrial Village Razhiiphe (IVR) village council has convened an emergency meeting on April 9, 8am at the residence of the council chairman. All BPL card holders, VCMs and VDBs have been requested to attend the meeting.
D’ block panchayat Kohima new office bearers: D’ block Panchayat of Kohima town held a meeting on April 2 at Panchayat hall and elected new office bearers for five years term. The team would be led by Akho-u Sophi as chairman, Senokha Losou as vice chairman, Weprepe Mero as secretary, Bobin Pradhan as joint secretary, Ahovi Swu as finance secretary and Kevisatuo Yhomo as treasurer.
PBVC elects new chairman: Purana Bazar Village Council (PBVC) has elected N. Hozheto Achumi as the new chairman for the tenure of five years with effect from March 10. Informing this in a press release, Pitu Mech, head GB PBVC has informed that all official correspondence(s) should be addressed to the newly elected chairman. The house also elected N. Athungo Ovung as the council secretary.

PBVC clarifies: Purana Bazar village council has clarified that the first woman in the state to assume the post of village council chairman was Anupama Mech, wife of Dr. Ajit Mech (2001-2005) and not Tokheli Kikon, chairman of NVCC as published in this daily on March 27 issue.

Home minister to grace Phom union silver jubilee: The Phom Union Kohima (PUK) would be celebrating its silver jubilee celebration on April 6 at Heritage Bamboo Hall, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama at 11am. Minister for home, Imkong L. Imchen would be the chief guest on the occasion.

KPA inform students: Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) informed students that the filling up of compartmental exam forms for old course i.e. semester I, III and V would be done from April 5 to 8 during office hours. The fee structures include exam fee – Rs.100, marksheet fee – Rs.50, admit card fee – Rs.20, centre fee Rs.100. The principal also informed that a sum of Rs.10 would be realized for each form.
One killed in mishap: A vehicle, belonging to 4th NAP Thizama met with an accident on Monday between Pherima and Phiphema. One Yampemo Ngully of Seluku village, a retired havildar died on spot, while the other 4 received minor injuries, sources said. Sources added the vehicle was enroute to Guwahati with four other personnel including driver at the time of the mishap. (Staff Reporter)
