Skill trg project for 8000 NE youth

Youth Employability Skill (YES) Project, a project targeting to provide jobs to 8000 youth in northeast region was inaugurated Tuesday by Union minister of state (in-charge) Ajay Maken at Kangla auditorium inside the Kangla fort.
Around 100 youth were enrolled at the skill training. According to the officials of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, the scheme has been launched keeping in view the Prime Minister’s vision to create 500 million certified and skilled persons by the year 2022 throughout the country and about 8000 youth in 59 districts of eight north eastern would be imparted training in the region under this scheme.
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), co-promoted by Ministry of Finance to catalyze private sector involvement in skill development would partner with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (M/oYAS) in YES venture.
Market mapping and skill gap analysis is being undertaken in North East before launching of the Project in other districts. The training duration is approximately for two to four months, depending upon the nature of the vocational training.
The training would be held in a class room, with remote learning technologies (VSAT, IP based web conferencing etc). The Project focuses on youth who plan to seek jobs locally and also those who wish to migrate.
Union minister, Ajay Maken, while inaugurating the Board of Governors (BOG) meeting of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, announced setting up of 10,000 mentor youth clubs throughout the country.
He further said mentor youth clubs would be picked up out of these clubs and local Member of Parliament will be a part of the selection committee.
The union minister for state, Ajay Maken arrived the state Monday on his two day visit and left Imphal Tuesday afternoon.The minister also paid a visit to Churachandpur district of Imphal and inspected various developmental schemes in the district.
