A pilot and a tout have been arrested from Ahmedabad in Gujarat in connection with the fake pilot scam, Delhi Police said Tuesday.
“We have arrested a pilot, who got a commercial pilot licence through forged papers, and a tout from Ahmedabad,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand said here.
Hiren Naggar, who procured his pilot licence using forged documents, and tout Eknath Patil were arrested Monday. So far, Delhi Police have arrested nine people in the fake pilot scam.
Abhishek Kaushik, from private airline Indigo, was arrested from Gurgaon in Haryana April 1 for using forged marksheets to procure a pilot’s licence from aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Police issued a lookout notice March 28 against three pilots and a flying instructor for forging marksheets to procure the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
Notices were issued against pilots Swaran Singh Talwar of MDLR airlines, Syed Habib Ali and Bhupinder Singh. A lookout notice has also been issued against flying instructor D. Asatkar.
Police issued the lookout notice to prevent the suspects from fleeing the country. All airports and ports have been put on alert. Police are conducting searches across the country to nab them.
Pradeep Kumar, 48, an assistant director with the DGCA; Pradeep Tyagi, 35, a pilot who helped others procure fake mark sheets; and his two associates Pankaj Jain, 23, and Lalit Jain, 34, were arrested between March 22-25 from Delhi and Chennai.
During interrogation, Pradeep Kumar told police that he had processed files for around 60 licences in the past couple of years.
Tyagi arranged for a forged result card through the two Jains in east Delhi after paying them Rs.1 lakh. He also paid about Rs.25,000 to Pradeep Kumar for ensuring that there was no hitch in processing the papers, police said.
Tyagi helped pilots Parminder Kaur Gulati, Meenakshi Sehgal, J.K. Verma, Swaran Singh Talwar, Syed Habib Ali and Bhupender Singh in obtaining licences on the basis of forged documents, police said.
