Torechu calls for cooperation with govt

Parliamentary Secretary Torechu on Tuesday called upon the people of Khongsa and its surrounding villages to cooperate with the administration and government to carry forward developmental activities to catch up with the rest of the state and do away with backwardness.
Addressing a gathering of people from neighbouring villages at the newly established EAC headquarters, Khongsa under Pungro, Torechu assured the gathering to complete the ongoing infrastructural development as soon as possible. Once the establishment of the long cherished demand i.e. EAC headquarter was completed, the people of the area would benefit both in terms of appointments to various grade-IV posts for which appointment would be done soon, Torechu said.
While thanking Salomi village for generously donating the land for the new EAC headquarter, he told the gathering villagers to take the initiative to survey the land so that the administration could process for land compensation.
He also assured that electricity and water supply would soon be provided to the newly established Khongsa village which has more than hundred household and also for official recognition of the village as the new village has fulfilled the criteria set by the state for recognition. Further, he stressed on the need for development of road communications for development to come and assured to start road construction to connect Khong, Tsungdang and Wongtsuwong via Sangtsuwong within this year and urged the people for cooperation.
Pointing out the rich natural resources endowed in the area including the majestic Saramati range, Fakim Wild Life Sanctuary and the rich mineral deposits which continue to attract tourists from across the world, he stressed on the need for change in the mindset of the people and also the importance of conservation and preservation of environment. On the other hand, he urged the people to check rampant logging conserve the rich flora and fauna and also attract the tourists apart from leaving a rich legacy for the future generation.
Later, he also inspected the ongoing construction works of the new EAC office and staff quarters.
