Don Bosco relic to arrive Dmu on May 21

The casket containing St. Don Bosco’s relic which is on a world tour would be arriving Dimapur on May 21, 9am.
Addressing media persons on Saturday at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Dimapur, officials of the Salesian family said the relic in a casket consisting the bone of the right hand of saint Don Bosco inserted in the chest of Don Bosco’s statue will be taken to various institutions to pay homage and veneration during the four-day tour in Dimapur.
The relic will be received at Nagaland Gate (Golaghat road) on May 21, 9am and would arrive at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur at 9.30am.
The Salesian family of Dimapur province, a conglomerate of 28 societies and organizations in the states of Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Upper Assam has invited for public reception to pay homage to the great educationist, father and friend of the youth.
The occasion would be graced by Maongwati Aier, deputy commissioner, Dimapur, Zekotso Mero, SP Dimapur, Nikashe Sema, CEO, DMC, Savi Leigise, president, Naga Council Dimapur, Rev. Fr. James Poonthuruthil sdb, provincial, Dimapur Province and Francis Pelevituo Solo, provincial president, Don Bosco Alumni.
On the first day of its pilgrimage to Dimapur, the relic will leave Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur at 1pm for St. Joseph’s School Chumukedima and would be available for public viewing at 1pm and arrive at St. Mary’s School Padumpukhuri at 5pm.
On May 22, the relic will be brought to Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre, 3rd Mile at 6.30 am, leave for Holy Cross Church at 8am, and arrive at the Auxilium at 6.45am. On May 23 it will reach Salesian College at 6.30am, May 24, 8.30am, at Provincial house and on May 25, 5.30am, depart for Diphu.
Saint Don Bosco’s relic is on a world tour as part of the preparation for the 2015 bicentenary of Don Bosco’s birth and also to mark the 150th year of the founding of the Salesian congregation.
The casket with the relic of Don Bosco began its journey on April 25, 2009, from Italy’s Valdocco, Turin, in the Basilica of ‘Mary Help of Christians’ and is set to cross five continents, where Salesian members are serving the youth.
The Salesian family of Dimapur Province of which Don Bosco Alumni is a member has a plan to commemorate the visit of the relic by installing a life-size statue of Don Bosco in Dimapur city where the monument will be constructed and maintained as a landmark by Don Bosco Provincial House, Supply Road Dimapur, the headquarter of Dimapur province.
