‘Extortionists’ held

Two persons were reportedly apprehended by Toulazouma village youths on charges of extorting money from a residence of Toulazouma May 14, police said. According to a FIR, registered with the Diphupar police station, the two arrested identified as one Vitoka Ayemi and Hoto Chophy along with other accomplices had gone to a residence of one Kewelhizu on the night of May 13 and demanded Rs.10,000 threatening him of kidnapping his son if failed to pay. They then forcibly took Rs.5000 from him and demanded to keep the remaining amount ready by next day. As the accused persons appeared the next day, the youths apprehended the duo while three managed to flee, police said. The apprehended were produced at the police station and a case registered, police said adding efforts were on to arrest the remaining accused.
