Shortage of lecturers, classrooms in Mon

Over 1000 students who had passed the 2011 HSLC exams in Mon District have no College or Higher Secondary School to study. Considering the grave situation of the students and the economy of parents, Wonkhao College Advisory Board held a meeting on May 17, 2011. According to former KSU president Tingia Konyak, Wonkhao College and Govt High School had refused admission due to shortage of lecturers and classrooms. Principal, Wonkhao College at the meeting, explained as his inability to admit students due on the above mentioned reasons. The College Board has decided to urge upon the government to appoint lecturers, expand classrooms and has assigned Konyak Union to pursue the resolution and bring back the results within two weeks time. In the meantime, the Board has advised the Prinicpal, Wonkhao College to admit the students. There are three government Higher Secondary Schools in Mon District but Mon Higher Secondary School lack room to accommodate more students. Tizit and Aboi government Higher Secondary Schools were upgraded but no lecturers appointed. The board also regretted that the education infrastructure in the district has been neglected and expressed their displeasure.
