Micro credit programme launched in Kiphire

Micro credit programme cum VDB conference was launched on Wednesday at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall Kiphire with Dr. U. S. Saha general manager NABARD as chief guest.
While launching the program, Dr. Saha said NABARD and SBI has been jointly working together to help VDBs and further elucidated that NGOs and Church leaders who are the role models of the citizens should work sincerely while implementing the project.
Since Kiphire has been chosen for the micro credit program, he said VDBs should implement the program as per norms.
For micro finance project out of 77 VDBs in Kiphire district, 50 VDBs has been allotted Rs.1 lakh each, he disclosed and urged the remaining VDBs in Kiphire to complete official formalities in time so they can get hold of the privilege at the earliest. Rev. Dr. Chingmak Kijong, secretary ECS while delivering a brief introduction of MCP described the project as the “seed” and cautioned the VDBs not to pilfer but to follow the norms and reap the fruits of its labour. Stating the government was ready to take care of the VDBs, he appealed the VDBs to be watchful as they play an important role in the village level.The program was chaired by Thungjamo Khuvung, project director DRDA Kiphire, welcome address cum inaugural speech by C.M. Tsanglao deputy commissioner Kiphire, and short speech on behalf of the department by Kelei Zeliang joint secretary RD.
