Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd, Mokokchung branch organized a base level training program for farmers and also launched nine farmers Club under Mokokchung district which was sponsored by NABARD Dimapur on May 17 at Longkumer Kilem.
The nine Farmers’ Clubs launched were from Khensa, Longmisa, Chungtia, Mangmetong, Mopungchuket, Longsa, Kubza, Chuchuyimpang and Settsu villages.
Exhorting the meeting, M.K Shikdar, manager NABARD encouraged the farmers not only to be productive and self sufficient, but also to aid in industrial supply and be optimistic in surplus activity as there were unlimited scope for marketing Nagaland Agri products.
Farmers Club facilitator ie, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mokokchung also highlighted on the need of modern technology for better productivity and to do away with the traditional farming.
Dr. Rongsen and Renbomo of KVK cited examples of the diminishing productivity of Agri-products and highlighted on how these problems can be solved.
M.K Shikdar manager, NABARD and Poji, assistant manager NABARD also presented the role and responsibility of farmers club, its functions, scope and various criteria. The program concluded with and interactive discussion for farmers with the NSCB Ltd., NABARD and KVK as the respondent to the farmer’s queries.
