Kidnap & Murder: TVC banishes accused

Tenyiphe-I village, Dimapur has reportedly resolved to banish one of its residents, Kevingol Sophie, son of late Pohokhwel Sophie of Jakhama village, for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a trader Md. Israr. This was resolved at the general body meeting of Tenyiphe-I village May 15 last, said a joint statement issued by village council chairman Rüüngunyü Meyase, secretary Shürhovizo Angami and GB Kru-o Friday.
According to signatories the meeting noted that the involvement of its resident in the crime has degraded the name of Tenyiphe-I village. “He has committed a crime beyond our imagination which has brought shame and sorrow to our village,” they said, pointing out that the accused has also violated all the rules and regulations of the village council.
The village authorities further said: “hence he is banished and ousted from the Tenyiphe-I village, Dimapur for ever,” adding he shall not be allowed to enter the village jurisdiction during his life time.
Besides, the meeting also resolved to banish Ganga Thapa from the village for lifetime for harbouring criminals and the victim in his house. Other co-accused Rüsou Rhi, son of Rhakho Rhi, of Zhamai village, John Chakhesang of Khezhakeno village and Umesh Bihari, who entered into village jurisdiction and committed crime, have also been banned from entering into Tenyiphe-I village jurisdiction during their life time, they said, adding “any action could be taken against them on spot and there shall be no words for the action taken.”
