CASU blames govt for bad road condition
KOHIMA: Chare Area Students’ Union (CASU) has expressed dismay on the pathetic roads along national highway Tuensang division, particularly between Chare and Kiding. According to the union, the road is not different from a “fishery pond full of pot-holes” and vehicles carrying passengers, adding it has affected the supply of essential commodities to the district headquarter, besides hardship faced by passengers. The union has appealed authority in- charge to repair the road.
Governor to grace Tagore’s birth anniv
Dimapur: Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar would grace the 150th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on May 27, 10:30 a.m. at NEZCC complex Dimapur. The celebrations would be observed on May 27-28 at Dimapur and June 4 at Kohima under the theme ‘festival of arts.’ Prominent Rabindra Sangeet dance troupes and singing groups would be performing at the opening ceremony.
ZPO general assembly: General assembly of Zeliang People Organization (ZPO) has been convened on May 27 at town hall, Peren at 11am. The invited delegates include legislatures, ex- legislatures, three delegates from each village, two delegates from each town, three delegates from Zeliang officers’ association, three delegates each from Zeliang women organization and Zeliang students’ union.
NCSCTEA general meeting: General meeting of Nagaland civil secretariat contract typist employees association (NCSCTEA) has been convened on May 25 at 10:30am at Red Cross building, Kohima.
Mon gets new fire station: Directorate of fire and emergency services Kohima informed that new building of Fire station, Mon was inaugurated by Neilasa Sopfii S.P. (F&ES) DFES Nagaland, Kohima on May 17. The total cost of the building was estimated at Rs.27,37,700.
SSU general meeting: Satami Students’ Union (SSU) has convened a general meeting on May 28, 10am at the residence of Kiheto Phule, former advisor (SSU), DC Hill Zunheboto. All units, advisors, and ex-officio and concern citizens have been requested to attend the meeting.
NSDYO appeals to minister school education: NSDYO the largest sub-division in the state with more than 80 recognized villages under four zonal areas namely Niuland, Aghünaqa, Khagaboto and Ato appealed to minister of school education to upgrade the middle schools at its three area headquarters, MES Nito (Ato), MES Hukai (Aghünaqa), MES Khagaboto Town (Khagaboto), MES Kiyezu and MES Zuheshe (Niuland). NSYO felt the move was necessary as the schools in the sub-division have been producing excellent results since its inception. NSDYO strongly urged the department to upgrade the said schools from MES to GHS, thus fulfilling the long cherished dream of the Nagas living under disturbed area belt bordering Assam.
NLN, NEI VBS leadership/teachers training: NLN, NEI, vacation bible school ministries has informed all churches, association about its 12 years running VBS christian education leadership/teachers training from June 7-12 at Life Spring Corner Dimapur. All churches, association have been requested to send their youth leaders, S.S. teachers, child teachers, director, supervisors and interested students. Further, NLN, NEI VBS has requested all interested persons to arrive at 11am with Church recommendation, passport photo, registration fees, Bible, notebook, light bedding and mosquito net. VBS books will be available in the office.
CTC informs: Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) has informed all departments (forest/power/BSNL) that trees, electric poles/point boxes/telephone poles have been creating hindrances in the process of undertaking developmental works in Chumukedima town. CTC has requested all departments concerned to remove/shift before May 31, as per deadline issued to all land/building owners to remove/dismantle all constructions/building in order to enable Chumukedima town council to undertake developmental works like widening of roads and beautification of town.
NNC (N/A) member withdraw support to Nagi: NNC (N/A) publicity and information secretary Yevishe Sumi under the leadership of V. Nagi general secretary has declared to withdraw support and decided to support the leadership of Dr. Senka Ao president Kimukam vice president and Hozheto general secretary. According to Yevishe, the decision to withdraw support was made because of improper formation and functioning of the government under the leadership of Nagi.
APMC chairman meeting: Consultative meeting of all Nagaland agriculture produce market committee (APMC) chairman has been convened on May 24, 10am at NSAMB conference hall, near Agri-Expo site, 4th mile, Dimapur.
BYED combined service: Baptist Youth Fellowship Dimapur would be organizing a combined fellowship on May 22, 4pm at Mao Baptist Church (Nagarjan).
USSC emergency meeting: Emergency meeting of United Sangtam Students’ Conference has been convened on May 25,10am at the residence of its treasurer Longkhim. All executive members under Longkhim Chare division have been informed to attend the meeting.
UNAU emergency meeting: Emergency meeting of unemployed unit nurses association (UNAU) has been convened on May 24, 2pm at Dimapur district hospital auditorium.
Hindu Bengali community meeting: A general meeting of the Hindu Bengali community has been convened on May 27, 5pm at MICE Conference Hall, near Holy Cross point Dimapur. All Hindu Bengali residents of Dimapur town have been requested to attend the meeting.
Screening test for DB grade-II: Deputy Commissioner Phek has informed that screening test/ interview for appointment to the post of D.B Grade-II would be conducted on May 31 at DPDB conference hall. All candidates have been requested to submit two copies of passport graphs and to collect their admit card from May 26 to 30. DC also informed that rejected/ underage candidates’ names have been displayed on the office notice board for information.
Vocation-cum-career guidance library: Students from various schools and colleges in Peren district have been informed that a mini vocational-cum-career guidance library has been established in the office of rural employment bureau, Peren which would remain open on all working days. The library has been established with a view to let students get first hand information on various multiple vocations and careers and plan for future career after schooling, college or university courses.
Business centre at Kohima: National Insurance, a PSU general insurance company would be opening a business centre at Kohima. This centre will benefit the public as well as its valued customers as they will get wider choice of insuring their vehicles and properties besides purchasing mediclaim, personal accident, householder and other policies at their doorstep.
ITI trainees visit Kolkata, Shillong and Guwahati: A team of final trainees from various trade in Industrial Training Institute, Kohima went for an educational tour/ excursion to Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong from April 11 to 19.The excursion team has expressed gratitude to the director and staff of Central Training and Research Institute, (CSTARI) for providing accommodation in the Cstari hostel at sector-V Salt Lake, near IBM, during their three days stay in Kolkota.
Clarification to youth wing president 44 A/c Phomching expelled: The NPF Mon division conducted a meeting on May 18 regarding the release issued by Longwa village 44 A/C Phomching president in this daily, dated May 4 wherein it stated that Longsha, youth wing president 44 A/C Phomching was expelled from the party. The meeting was attended by Mon divisional office bearers, 44A/C office bearers, Longwa village NPF Unit, Nokkam president Longwa village NPF and Longshah president youth wing 44 A/C Phomching. According to a release issued by general secretary NPF division, the 44A/C unit and Longwa NPF unit during the meet, apologized in the presence of Mon NPF division and both the parties compromised and solved the matter amicably.
KSSU felicitation program: Kohima Sumi Students’ Union (KSSU) in collaboration with Kohima Sumi Hoho (KSH), Kohima Sulimi Totimi (KST) and Kohima Sumi Officers’ Kuqhakalu (KSOK) organized a felicitation programme for Sumi HSLC toppers in Kohima on May 16 at Conclave hill.The greetings were delivered by Lhokiye Yepthomi, general secretary KSH, Kakheli Jakhalu president KSTH and Ikuto Zhimo general secretary KSOK. Lt. Col. S. Jakhalu secretary Rajya Sainik board encouraged the toppers and rest of the students to excel in their studies.
M.A Sociology result: Provisional result of M.A Sociology second semester regular batch 2009, repeaters/improvement batch 2008, and fourth semester regular batch 2008 under Nagaland University conducted in the month of September 2010 has been declared. This was stated in a press release issued by Otova Swu, assistant registrar (examination).
Lost and found: A mobile handset and a wallet belonging to one “Robert Odyuo” was found at central jail junction, 4th mile area on Saturday. Rightful owner has been informed to contact at 9436642769 to claim it.
