Mon, Kiphire DPDB meeting

MON: Mon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of May was held under the chairmanship of M.C. Konyak, minister for forest, environment & ecology, wildlife & excise and chairman DPDB, Mon, on May 16 at the conference hall of the DC, Mon Dinesh Kumar.
The Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) and the Civil Hospital, Mon gave a power point presentation about their activities, achievements and infrastructure development initiated since launching of the partnership between the MSF and the department of health & family welfare for the management of the civil hospital, Mon on August 4, 2010.
Besides other development achievements, the hospital is also providing free medicines, mosquitoes net, blankets, etc., to the patients. Right after the meeting, the board members visited the district hospital and examined the achievement made by the joint venture of MSF and health & family welfare department.
The house discussed on problems faced by students’ on getting admission to class XI (eleven). In this regard, the chairman directed DEO, Mon to inspect the higher secondary schools in the district for any possible extension of classrooms to accommodate poor students who cannot afford to study outside.
It is reported that around 300 poor students are still not admitted due to limited seats in the existing government and private higher secondary schools in the district.
The board also recommended the following agenda submitted by the chairman M.C. Konyak: upgradation of Ayo Memorial School Naginimora to class – X; upgradation of Zero Point road via Tamlu to state highway; upgradation of Wakching to Aboi Road via Chingtang and Chinglong to state highway and Water Supply connection to Wakching area.
The DC also directed those 17 departments who have not submitted their departmental profile to submit within 7 days period.
Minister for school education and SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak also attended the meeting.
KIPHIRE: The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board Kiphire is held on May 13 at the office chamber of the deputy commissioner Kiphire. T. Torechu MLA, parliamentary secretary (CAWD) chaired the meeting.
The meeting was attended by C. Kipili Sangtam MLA, chairman NSMDC and out going chairman DPDB Kiphire, CM Tsanglao DC Kiphire, police officers and almost all the officers posted at Kiphire district.
While acknowledging the officers posted at Kiphire district, T. Torechu said their posting at the district should not be viewed as a punishment but to take it as an opportunity and work for the welfare of the district.
He said the prevalent problems in Kiphire district was due to the presence of too many dialects but, reiterated one must take it as a challenge and work for the common benefit of the people.
CMO Kiphire who also spoke at the meeting said sanitation should be give equal importance as many open toilets transmit disease and appeal, and appealed the administration to create awareness among the public.
The meeting also reviewed the last meeting minutes. Earlier, the outgoing DPDB Chairman C. Kipili Sangtam, MLA, handed over charge to the new chairman T. Torechu and assured full cooperation. After the DPDB meeting was the meeting with DBs and GBs of Kiphire called by T. Torechu.
He also highlighted on preserving the rich mineral deposits, flora and fauna and wild life sanctuary in the distirct. He further disclosed that there are officers who don’t want to live in Kiphire as there were too many “unknown elements” engaged in extortion and even threatening them.
