KPLT expels chairman

Chairman of the Karbi Peoples’ Liberation Tiger (KPLT), B. Lekthe, was expelled from office by the central body of the KPLT on May14. Informing the media houses, Nilip Inghee, general secretary of the outfit said that Lekthe was expelled due to his involvement in anti-organizational activities. He was replaced by the vice chairman of KPLT, Birta Timung, appointed as the working chairman. However, sources revealed that B. Lekthe was hiding in an unknown location but he will soon surrender before the KPLT leadership. It maybe mentioned that few cadres of the KLNLF outfit deserted to continue the arm-struggle for Hemperk Kangthim (self- rule) and on January 8 this year, they constituted a new rebel group and named it KPLT. It was the KLPT, just two days before the first phase of the recent Assam Assembly Election, gunned down four CRPF jawans near Deithor under Bokajan sub-division.
