Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) closed down the administrative and out-patient department on Tuesday following a threat by Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP).
Soon after chief minister O Ibobi Singh left the institute campus after inspecting various infrastructure development works around 10am, the militant group, KCP (Noyon) rang up the director around 11am and reportedly asked whether he was going to fulfill their demand, sources from the institute said.
The militant group had been reportedly pressing RIMS authority to award contract works for various infrastructure developments to the persons recommended by them.
The caller identifying himself to be a member of the faction, reportedly threatened that they were going to explode bombs inside the campus which have been already planted.
RIMS authority immediately briefed the sudden alarm in the institute. A team of police commandos rushed to the campus and conducted a search operation inside the campus.
The team also detained some persons in the hospital but no reports of rounding up of any suspect and detection of bombs were found.
However, RIMS authority decided to close down the administrative and OPD blocks as precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident inside the campus.
An official in the administration section of the institute said negotiation was going on to settle the matter.
The closure of the OPD and administrative office would continue an agreement or full proof security measure is taken up in the campus, he added.
