Chairmen of Sumi Community and Yimchungru Community of Diphupar ‘B’ village have appealed to Dimapur district administration to intervene and resolve the ongoing impasse between the leaders of the village which erupted over election of new members in the village council.
According to Sumi community chairman, Hovito Sumi and Yimchungru community, Tokiu S. Yimchungru, the villagers submitted a representation to Dimapur deputy commissioner Maongwati Aier urging him to intervene into the matter and take action against those individuals misusing the functions and power of village council when it was not even constituted. DC Dimapur responded accordingly on May 13 and instructed EAC Chumukedima to ensure that appropriate action was taken and justice maintained.
In response, EAC Chumukedima called for a hearing on May 13, wherein all GBs, chairmen of all communities of Diphupar ‘B’ and audit committee were directed to attend. The chairmen stated that despite a notice served by the administration on May 13 to refrain from issuing of press release, explanation calls etc., those individuals had misused the name of village council and published a press release in a local daily on May 16 in the name of Diphupar ‘B’ Village Council, which was a direct violation of order served by the administration. They further lamented that a hearing to sort out the issue was conducted on May 16 however till date there has been no response from EAC Chumukedima, thus keeping the villagers in the dark.
