Dr. Shürhozelie feted for contribution in literature

Minister for urban development and higher education, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and president of Ura Academy was on Wednesday felicitated by Ura Academy for being conferred with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the International Association of Educators for World Peace.
The award was instituted by Global Open University Nagaland and Confederation of Indian Universities.
Speaking at the thanksgiving and felicitation programme, Dr. Shürhozelie acknowledged and thanked elders who guided and pioneered Ura Academy towards gaining its present momentum.
He stated Ura Academy has always selflessly worked for the benefit of the future generation, and urged upon the gathering to continue doing so.
On receiving the award, Dr. Shürhozelie thanked Dr. I. Temsu, director of Global Open University Nagaland, Alempokba and Dr. Trivedi for their support.
Born in 1936, Dr. Shürhozelie graduated from St. Edmunds College, Shillong and earned his masters in Tenyidie from Ura Academy. He served as UDA and also a teacher before becoming a member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly in February 1969.
His contributions in literature include writing of novels, poetry compilation, Tenyidie dictionary, Biblical plays and other translations.
