Farmers under Tokiye block trained on storing, marketing potatoes

Agriculture department in collaboration with ATMA Zunheboto organized training programme under Tokiye block at Aghunato on May 18.
During the training session, SDAO and BTT convener spoke on the importance of potato and vegetable production and various implementations of techniques and technologies were imparted to the farmers to increase storing and marketing of potatoes.
The participants were also urged to tie up with the department and district ATMA for marketing and transportation.
Further information and knowledge of ‘vision 2020’ and food security for the current year was also emphasized.
In another occasion, two farm schools were launched by Avitoli Yeptho, deputy PD ATMA and Tokato Jimo, deputy PD ATMA at Akuba village (Ginseng farm) and Aghunato (Kiwi and Cardamon farm).
Tokato Jimo explained about the Farmer Friend (FF) and Block Farm Advisory Committee (BFAC) and said the committee and group had been formed to provide technical help to the farmers in order to produce high quality crops and better production.
Avitoli Yeptho highlighted the function and activities of the farm school.
Altogether 95 farmers participated in the programme and seeds of kharif crop distributed to the trainees.
