Department of health & family welfare organized an exposure trip for the communitized SCs of Mokokchung district to Tangha sub centre, Longleng on May 24.
The purpose was to exchange ideas and views and to learn for better performance and improvement in their efficiency for maintaining their health centres.
Altogether 82 members including VHC chairmen and secretaries from 51 sub centred visited Tangha sub centre.
During the interactive session, VHC chairman of Tangha SC Jeliang Phom stated that so far, the achievement of the sub centre was due to the support and coordination between the health workers, VHCs, village councils, Church leaders and community who in time render their services in cash and kind for the maintenance and functioning of the sub centre.
He mentioned that some of the facilities in the health centre are being donated by village council, NGO and Church organization such as construction of kitchen, ground leveling, generator, gas cylinder and locally made dustbins.
He also added that transparency was being maintained when it came to utilization of funds provided by government and purchase medicines according to seasonal demands and requirement of the community.
Dr. S. S. Akaba Dy. CMO, Mokokchung lauded the villagers for their contribution towards the functioning of the sub centre. He hoped that the sub centre would be more productive and serve as good example for others in providing the health care services.
Council chairman of Tangha, Dr. Lempi MO, Mokokchung and Rev. Pona VHC Chairman Mopungchuket also shared during the session.
The participants also interacted by sharing their experiences and views during discussion hour.
